A transparent light-yellow solution for injections, produced in glass or plastic vials of 10, 50 and 100 ml.
1 ml of FORTICARB« 5% contains 50 mg of imidocarb.
1 ml of FORTICARB« 10% contains 100 mg of imidocarb.
Imidocarb is active against Babesia bigemina, Babesia bovis, Babesia jakimovi and Babesia divergens, Francaiella colchica and Anaplasma marginale, causing blood protozoan diseases in cattle as well as against Babesia canis, Babesia gibsonii and Ehrlichia canis in dogs.
After the parenteral administration imidocarb is readily adsorbed from the area of injection and penetrates into the majority of organs and tissues of the organism. Imidocarb is not to be exposed to metabolic process in the animal organism.
In recommended dosage the drug has no cumulative, embryotoxic or mutagenic effect.
- Treatment and prevention of babesiosis and anaplasmosis, as well as concurrent infections caused by babesiasis and anaplasmosis in cattle.
- Treatment and prevention of acute, chronic and subclinical babesiosis in dogs.
FORTICARB« 10% is administered for treatment of cattle once by a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection in the following dosage:
- for babesiosis ľ 1 ml per 50 kg of body mass, which corresponds to 2 mg/kg of active substance;
- for anaplasmosis and concurrent parasitic infections (anaplasmosis and bebesiosis) ľ 1.5 ml per 50 kg of body mass or 3 mg/kg of active substance.
For prevention purposes in the event of an attack or potential attack of ticks transmitting blood protozoan diseases, FORTICARB« 10% is administered once by an intramuscular or subcutaneous injection of 1 -1.5 ml per 50 kg of body mass (2-3 mg/kg of active substance). The protective effect lasts 15 to 30 days.
For treatment of dogs FORTICARB« 5% is administered once by a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection in the dose of 0.4-0.8 ml per 10 kg of body mass (2-4 mg/kg of active substance).
The protective effect lasts 15 to 30 days depending on the breed and physical state of the animal.
FORTICARB« should not be used together with chlororganic and organophosphorous drugs as well as cholinesterase inhibitors.
Mass hematozoon death and erythrocytoschisis in animals may result in intoxication. This calls for intensive care including intravenous infusions of electrolytic solutions and symptomatic treatment.
Slaughter and butchering of cattle is allowed only 37 days after the last administration of the drug. Cow milk can be used for nutrition purposes only 5 days after the last administration of FORTICARB«.
FORTICARB« should be stored with precaution (List B) at 0 to 25 °C in a dry place away from direct light. Validity period in prescribed conditions ľ 3 years from the date of production.Back to catalogue
