ENROFLON® 5% and 10% solution for oral administration
Content and form
A light-yellow transparent solution for oral administration produced in glass vials or plastic bottles of 5; 10; 100; 200; 250; 500 or 1000 ml.
1 ml of ENROFLON® 5% contains 50 mg enrofloxacin.
1 ml of ENROFLON® 10% contains 100 mg enrofloxacin.
Enrofloxacin contained in ENROFLON ® belongs to the group of fluorquinolones and possesses a wide spectrum of antibacterial and antimycoplasmosis properties, prevents the growth and development of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms including Å.ñîli, Haemophilus, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, Pseudomonas, Bordetella, Campylobacter, Erysipelothrix, Corynebacterium, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Actinobacillus, Clostridium, Bacteroides, Fusobacterium, as well as Mycoplasma spp.. Bacteria resistance to ENROFLON® develops relatively slowly, as the mechanism of antimicrobial action of enrofloxacin is based on the inhibition of the activity of gyrase ferment affecting the DNA replication in the core of the bacterial cell.
ENROFLON® is well and readily absorbed from the gastric tract and penetrates in all the organs and tissues of the organism. The maximum concentration of the antibiotic in blood is reached in 1 or 2 hours upon the administration of ENROFLON ® and is maintained during 6 hours, whereas its curative content is maintained during 24 hours.
Enrofloxacin is partially subject to biotransformation into ciprofloxacin. Fluorquinolones are eliminated from the organism primarily unchanged with urine and bile.
- Treatment of colisepticaemia, salmonellosis, mycoplasmosis, bronchopneumonia, enteritis and other diseases in calves, lambs, swine and poultry caused by microorganisms sensitive to fluorquinolones.
- Treatment of atrophic rhinitis, enzootic pneumonia and the mastitis-metritis-agalaxia in swine.
The preparation is prescribed for treatment of animals and poultry by oral administration once in 24 hours with water or feedstuff for a period 3 to 5 days in the following dosage:
For birds the ENROFLON ® solution is prepared depending on the water consumption ratio per 24 hours. During treatment the bird shall receive only water containing ENROFLON®.
ENROFLON ® shall not be used for treatment of egg-laying hens, as enrofloxacin is effused with eggs.
ENROFLON ® shall not be administered together with bacteriostatic antibiotics (tetracycline, macrolide or chloralmphenicol), theophyllin and steroids.
The slaughter of animals for meat processing is allowed not earlier than in 14 days after the last administration of ENROFLON ®. The slaughter of poultry for meat processing is allowed not earlier than in 11 days after the last administration of ENROFLON ®. The meat of animals and poultry slaughtered prior to the expiration of the withdrawal period can be used for feeding fur-bearing animals or production of tankage.
ENROFLON ® should be stored with precaution (List B) at 5 to 25 °C in a dry place away from direct light. Validity period in conditions prescribed by the instruction – 5 years from the date of production.
